Follicular Unit Extraction/Excision (FUE)
This hair transplantation method involves donor hair being removed individually from tissue from the back of the head using a small micro-punch (S.A.F.E. System – Surgically Advanced Follicular Extraction). A 1.0mm micro-punch is repeatedly used to make circular incisions in the skin creating individual grafts that are then extracted and observed under the microscope to ensure quality. The small, circular holes where the grafts are removed will heal naturally without the need for stitches. After recipient sites are created by our hair restoration surgeons, the grafts are then placed using the same technique as in FUT.
The main advantages of FUE include quicker healing time with less pain and swelling, absence of a line scar, and the ability to wear the hair short. The cost of an FUE procedure tends to be greater compared to FUT.
